Placer Mining is the mining of mineral deposits in this case gold. (Au) This may be done by various methods using surface excavating equipment or tunnelling equipment.
The name refers to mining the precious metal deposits (particularly Au and gemstones found in alluvial deposits—deposits of sand and gravel in modern or ancient streambeds, or occasionally glacial deposits. The Gold having been moved by stream flow from an original source such as a vein is typically only a minuscule portion of the total deposit. Since gems and heavy metals like gold are considerably denser than sands, they tend to accumulate at the base of placer deposits.
It is for this reason that TransEco has conducted thorough prospecting on the entire site prior to excavating. In essence we will dig up and ‘wash’ the entire mine site to extract the gold held within it. The graphic above can help you to visualise the work that TransEco will undertake.
TransEco pledge is to operate under ethical principles beyond traditional sustainability targets and to only adopt projects where we can establish the right economic, social and ecological balance.
