Health & Safety

Health and safety in all areas of work is of utmost importance. Our primary objective is to operate the business free of occupational injury and harm. To cement our commitment to health and safety, we have built an on-site clinic staffed by a full-time doctor and nurse. The clinic is not only accessible to all staff, it also services the local community (see ‘Community’ tab for more detail on our community projects).
Directors and Managers are committed to ensuring that occupational health and safety are an integral part of the short and long-term operations. Employees and contractors are fully trained and understand occupational health, safety and environmental policies and procedures as a fundamental part of their role in the business. This practice has established operating standards that meet or exceed any relevant laws and regulations, environmental impact statements, environmental management plans and closure plans. Continuously improving our ability to operate safely requires a multi-layered approach.
Identifying measurable objectives and targets that will drive continuous improvement necessary to pursue incident-free operating activities.
Providing training and support to employees and contractors in community relations, occupational health and safety and environmental matters.
Adequate first aid treatment and access to medical facilities 24 hours a day for all members of staff.
Implementing community relations, occupational health, safety and environmental programs, policies, procedures and systems.
Publishing the results of regular safety audits in a public forum.
Regularly review and audit of occupational health, safety and environmental performance.

Consistently carrying out risk assessments to identify health and safety exposures and hazards with the potential for injuries and illness.

Adoption of emergency response systems and procedures with regular inspections to ensure full effectiveness.
